Every year TripAdvisor issues its Travellers’ Choice Awards, the best holiday destinations (but also cities, hotels, restaurants and so on) according to the users of the website, and well we can’t say how happy we were when we saw the results.
Sicily is surely one of the most loved destinations, mostly because of its beaches: the first thing you’ll notice is that Lampedusa’s Rabbit beach is in the Top 3 beaches in the world, right after Baia do Sancho in Brazil and Grace Bay in Provideciales (an island between Haiti and Cuba).
If we take a look to the European rankings Rabbit beach hit the first place, of course, and Favignana’s Cala Rossa (Red Bay) ranks 7th. As for the islands 5 out of the 10 best islands in Italy are from Sicilian archipelagos!
Lampedusa, Favignana, Lipari, Salina, and Vulcano are surely among the must-sees for their breath-taking landscapes, their unique atmosphere and obviously for their sea, from the deep blue of the Aeolian islands to the light Caraibic shades of Lampedusa’s sea.
There are though a lot of beaches, spots and islands yet to be “discovered” by the general public, those off-the-beaten-track destinations you couldn’t find that easily without following the tips of someone who know the island deep down.
