In October you have a unique chance to discover the beauty of Palermo: the capital of Sicily will be the star of “Le Vie dei Tesori” (streets of treasures), an event created to unveil all the hidden wonders of the city, the ones that are usually inaccessible.

The festival, starting from its first edition in 2006 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the foundation of University of Palermo, has been designed for both locals and tourists. For four weekends indeed many historic locations, churches, and collections that usually don’t accept visitors, will open their gates.

The sites part of the festival’s schedule are more than 60, and then there are the side events, that include exhibitions, conferences, books presentations, shows and concerts.

Le Vie dei Tesori will be presented on October 1st at Palazzo Steri; the sites will be open on Saturdays and Sundays until October 26, and most of the allowances will be for free. This year’s edition features a special side event dedicated to the other towns of the province of Palermo: it’s called “I Paesi dei Tesori” (towns of treasures) and includes day trips to a few small towns in the area around the capital to discover even more historic and artstic-interest sites. Stop by any touristic information point in the city for more details.
