How do you choose the most beautiful beaches in Sicily? The “queen” island of the Mediterranean Sea offers suggestive corners and a wide variety of beaches and cliffs, each to know, explore and enjoy under the sun, even better if equipped with fins, mask and snorkel. Scent of Sicily Team wants to give you some tips on the most beautiful (difficult to choose!) beaches in Sicily; near to each of these, you will find some of the estates part of our Sicily villas with large gardens near the beach catalogue.
Zingaro Nature reserve
Seven kilometres of pristine coast between Castellammare del Golfo and San Vito Lo Capo overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, between Castellamare del Golfo and Trapani. It’s perfect for trekking lovers: from the main trail you can admire cliffs and take shorter routes leading to the sea, between coves and intimate beaches.
Cefalù
If you are in Palermo you can jog along the beach of Mondello, but once you are in the area our suggestion is to visit Cefalù, one of the main seaside resorts of the province and included in the list of “The most beautiful villages of Italy”. Its beach is one of the most loved by tourists and locals alike. The town is also famous for its cathedral, recently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Scala dei Turchi
The wonderful Scala dei Turchi, near Porto Empedocle, in the province of Agrigento, is a large cliff of white limestone rock that wind and water have dug in shape of steps. The beach owes its name to the Arab pirates that found here an easy landing when they first arrived to the island.
Vendicari nature reserve
In the Natural Reserve of Vendicari, in the province of Syracuse, you will find one of the most beautiful and wildest beaches in Sicily, Cala Mosche. This little bay alone is worth the visit, but once you are in the area drop by the enchanting hamlet of Marzamemi to enjoy a couple of hours at San Lorenzo beach.
Taormina is the undisputed the pearl of Northeastern Sicily, overlooking the enchanted bay of Isola Bella, a small isle reachable on foot with low tide.
