There are six beaches of Sicily which have been awarded with the decoration of the Blue Flag 2016. This quality certificate is awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), an international organization that, since 1981, is focusing on the best resort of sea and maritime harbors.
Among the Blue Flag beaches 2016 in Sicily there is a new entry from last year: it is the Marina di Ragusa, a hamlet of three thousand inhabitants of the capital of the province of Ragusa. This seaside resort was already adorned in recent years the prestigious title and regained the decoration after a period of absence. Every summer is stormed by numerous Italian and foreign tourists.
Confirmed the rest of the province or the neighboring municipalities of Pozzallo (formerly Green Flag of the best beaches for children) and Pozzallo. Both towns base their economy on maritime tourism and attract every year an increasing number of visitors.
Among the beaches confirmed for the second year in a row we find the charming Tusa, a town in the province of Messina, with Lampare and Marina Beach, for the first time among the Blue Flag beaches of Sicily.
The province of Messina boasts two other beaches awarded the Blue Flag in 2016. We are talking about the island of Lipari and the island of Vulcano, both belonging to the municipality of Lipari and the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands.
Last but certainly not least from the aesthetic point of view, Menfi in the province of Agrigento. The crystal clear sea and white beaches have enabled the achievement of the prestigious award, which has become a regular at. There indeed we found some of our most beautiful Sicily villas near the beach.
To obtain the title of Blue Flag must respect a number of parameters, which include cleaning of bathing waters and beaches, but also adherence to initiatives for the development of the area (for example the proper functioning of the collection, the increase in green spaces and bike paths etc.).
