Born from the pen of Andrea Camilleri and starring in a series of novels published by Sellerio, Inspector Montalbano is one of the greatest success for Italian TV and narrative in the last 20 years. The character got famous all over the world, gathering fans everywhere. Salvo Montalbano Commissioner of Vigata, a fictional small town in Southern Sicily, is a man in love with his land, its traditions and its food, with a fervent mind and able to solve the most intricate cases. The literary success has encouraged the creation of a well received TV show starring Luca Zingaretti as Montalbano and Cesare Bocci as his partner in crime Mimì Augello.
Main scenes of the show are shot in Southeastern Sicily, in the beautiful val di Noto, which is one of the most beautiful regions of the island and one of the locations we chose for our villas in Southern Sicily.
Ragusa, Scicli and Modica are the main towns in the area and part of UNESCO World Heritage, are inexplicably not so famous among tourists. Thanks to Montalbano’s success these Baroque towns got a sudden and deserved interest from tourists from Italy and the rest of the world. Today and in our following weeks we want to play this little game, bringing you on a roadtrip through the most famous places quoted in the books and used as shooting locations for the TV show. Let’s see if Montalbano’s Sicily will charm you too! Stay tuned.
